《伦敦的那些年》:
I spent the whole night hanging out with her, which was quite fun. She came to London earlier than me, at the time before the hot wave of Chinese students coming to study in the UK. By now, she has totally adapted to the British life style: a full-time graphic design student, dressed in biker jacket and high heels with a big head scarf on her very short hair (clearly a creative London fashion style), a Latino boyfriend, and occasionally selling her old clothes in the flea market with a cup of coffee in her hands. The welcome present she gave me when we met the first time was a 'Time Out' magazine, a a way to help me start my fun life in London.
She knows London so well that she hopped on and off the bus so quickly before I could even figure out where we were! I still Fmd it weird why the famous red London buses do not announce the names of each station. It would be much easier for the passengers to know when and where to get off, especially for the newcomers like me. In China the buses announce every single station even if there is no one getting on or off the bus. While gossiping about her new boyfriend, she lit a cigarette to go with her vodka on rocks. I was surprised to know that she is a smoker, but she told me she only smokes in the right environment-AKA: bars, pubs and clubs...
Wearing a short skirt with the messy makeup from last night, I was standing on the platform waiting for the Metropolitan line to take me home. I had an exhausted body, but an exated mind. I have never taken a tube so early! The tube was already full at such an early time. Looking around, there were people on the way to work, people like me just finishing partying, and people travelling to the train station with their luggage. Suddenly I felt guilty, as I strongly felt that I haven't taken advantage of my studying abroad. Everyone here in the tube is busy with something, rushing to work, to school, to a destination, with the fresh spring air in the morning and clear goals in their mind. I haven't had this feeling for a long time, although I used to have. Having spent money and time in partying with friends, I feel very bad when sitting next to these people.
