刘世铸，博士，副教授，硕士研究生导师。山东省即墨人，1962年出生，1983年毕业于山东师范大学外文系，1990-1993年就读于山东大学外文系，师从李延福教授，主攻英语语言学并获硕士学位。2002年起在著名语言学家张德禄教授指导下攻读功能语言学、文体学，于2006年获博士学位。2004-2005年在英国伯明翰大学（The University of Birmingham）做访问学者，与评价理论创始人之一Peter White合作研究话语的评价意义并合作完成《评价理论概论》（北京大学出版社）。主要研究兴趣为功能语言学、文体学、评价理论、计算机辅助语篇分析和英语教学。

　　评价理论创立于上世纪90年代，主要代表人物是J. R. Martin和Peter White。该理论是对话语人际意义更系统的研究框架。评价理论自创立以来，引起了国内外学术界的广泛关注，除J.R.Martin和Peter White外，国内外不少学者加入了这个行列，研究领域涉及到话语分析、教学、翻译和跨文化交流等评价问题。　　
　　《态度的结构潜势》是我国第一部研究话语评价理论的专著。该书对评价的本质做了更深层次的诠释，作者从价值哲学、心理学、语言学等角度，把评价看作是一个包含评价主体、评价客体、评价范畴、评价标准四个相互关联的、动态的交际体系。该书对评价理论的态度系统作出了修正和补充，作者运用心理学、社会学的理论，把态度分为情感和评判两个子系统。基于语料库和心理学的情感的语义分类使情感子系统具有更强的操作性，为话语分析和翻译提供了理想的理论框架。基于语料库的情感和评判的语法模式研究，弥补了评价理论只重视词汇层次的缺陷，拓宽了评价理论的研究视角，并为评价的语义类型研究提供了可靠的支持。
