A Morning Wish
清晨许个愿
The sun is just rising on the morning of anotherday. What can I wish that this day may bring me?Nothing that shall make the world or others poorer,nothing at the expense of other men; but just those fewthings which in their coming do not stop with me buttouch me rather, as they pass and gather strength.
I wish that this day could bring me a few friends,who understand me, and yet remain my friends; I alsowish that this day could bring me a job to do whichhas real value.
I wish that this day could bring me a mindunafraid to travel, even though the trail be notblazed, and I wish that this day could bring me anunderstanding heart.
I wish that this day could bring me a sight ofthe eternal hills, and the blue sea stretching to thehorizon, and of something beautiful which the handsof men have made.
I wish that this day could bring me a sense ofhumor, and the power to laugh, and a little leisurewith nothing to do.
And I crave for a few moments of quiet, silentmeditation on the morning of this day.

我希望这一天能让我看到永恒的山冈，看到水天相接的蔚蓝海洋，看到人类的双手造就的美丽事物。
我希望这一天能够带给我幽默感、笑的力量和无所事事的片刻悠闲。
我渴望在这一天的早上有片刻安静的沉思静想。
