CATHERINE MARSTON: At nine oclock tonight, the eyes of the world will be on this brand new 110 million stadium here in Manchester. Its already slowly beginning to fill up with some of the 38,000 people who are lueky enough to have tickets for the opening ceremony. Manchester has been waiting seven years for these Commonwealth Games, and tonight, finally, the fun can begin. Theyve come to party, and share a moment of history. As the gates opened, the audience could hardly wait to get inside. Thousands bought their tickets months ago, just to make sure they have a good seat. The de- tails of the ceremony have been kept a closely guarded secret, and thats whipped up enthusiasm and speculation.
WOMAN: Really exciting. I just cant wait ...
MAN: Its never happened anything like this before, in Manchester, has it? Or in this country, really, this big. Ive been really looking forward to it.
