My TCM Journey in China Series: This series of books tells the interesting stories between a young American man (whose Chinese name is Hao Qi) who studies traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in China, and his Chinese friend Bai Ling, African roommate (whose Chinese name is Shi Lei), and European classmate (whose Chinese name is Ai Meili). Through their study and daily life, the series introduces TCM culture to international readers. Four books are included in this series, namely, Keeping Fit by Eating Fit, Self-Care Routines in TCM, TCM Wisdoms for Families, and Healing with TCM. Each book contains ten stories, which cover such topics as keeping fit, disease preventions and cures, healthy diet and exercises while integrating TCM culture, and traditional Chinese culture. By presenting vivid cartoons to readers, the books combine TCM and popular elements of social life in contemporary China, which makes the whole series more engaging to audience. To facilitate readers' understanding and help them overcome any language barriers, the story texts, new words, TCM terminology and colloquial expressions, and grammar explanations are provided with English translations. Moreover, to meet the needs of international students for after-school reading, the vocabulary employed in the series are in line with Intermediate Grade Four of the Chinese Proficiency Grading Standards for International Chinese Language Education. This way, they will gain knowledge about TCM culture and also hone their reading skills. To help readers better understand the texts, gain perceptual knowledge about TCM and make the series more appealing to them, each book is accompanied by a cartoon video, which can be accessed by scanning the QR codes in the books.
