　　Her sweet smile and curly hair with fancy clip may remind one of the girl-next-door. Yet the Favourite Motion Picture Actress Award in her hand shows thcrt she is a Hollywood film actress. As most fans expected， Julia Roberts was one of the big winners of the 28th People's Choice Awards.  In an industry that often destroys its young people， espeaally actress， 39-year-old Roberts is still very popular on the stage.
　　 To keep her position in Hollywood， Roberts makes full use of her trademark smile. She continues to build a belief in herself despite tragedy in her life. Julia Roberts was born on October 28， 1967， in Georgia. She had an unfortunate childhood. Her parents separated when she was only four and her father died of cancer five yeas later.  "A lot of hardship and heartache come with events such as divorce and losing a parent，" she said.  "They take away that dreamy quality of life that kids should be allowed. "
　　At school， her schoolmates laughed at the lefi-handed girl with thick glasses and big mouth. At first she took it pretty hard.  Then she decided to take advantage of her looks.  She accepted her big mouth and made her smile famous like a trademark. She  showed her beautiful brown eyes by using contact lenses instead of  hiding them behind thick glasses. "When life is hard， I smile and  look for change，" Roberls said.

　　At the age of 17， the high school graduate moved to New  York to begin a career in acting.  She became famous in 1990  with Pretty Woman which strengthened Julia as a Hollywood ac  tress.  She established her status as a star in many movies， inclu  ding Notting H/// and Amer/can's Sweetheart.  She won an Oscar  in 2001 for her role in Erin Brokovich.
