《现代汉译英口译教程（第二版）/普通高等教育“十五”国家级规划教材》是为高等院校英语专业学生编写的口译教材，也可供广大英语口译工作者、口译自学者及参加各类相关考试的学习者使用。《现代汉译英口译教程（第2版）》第一版于2004年出版，曾获2004年北京市高等教育教学成果二等奖，2005年被评为北京市高等教育精品教材。《现代汉译英口译教程（第二版）/普通高等教育“十五”国家级规划教材》根据口译的特点，针对中国学习者的问题与困难而编写，目的在于提高学习者及时、独立地进行即席翻译的能力。本次修订在保持第一版教材兼顾国情教育、提高语言技能与口译技巧特色的基础上，不仅对课文、练习、口译技巧讲解进行了全面的调整和更新，更附有MP3录音光盘，精选每单元重点课文进行录音，语音地道、纯正、英音、美音兼顾，更适合口译教学需要，便于学习者选择模仿。

　　1.“世界第八奇观”所谓the Eighth Wonder ofthe World.指原有的Seven Wonders ofthe World之外 的世界第八奇观.即秦兵马俑。公元前2世纪西顿的作家安提帕特所列举的古代杰 出的世界七大奇观为：the pyramid ofKhufu at Giza（吉萨的胡夫金字塔）.the hanging gardens of Babylon（巴比伦的空中花园）.Phidias’S statue of Zeus at Olympia （奥林匹亚的宙斯神像）.the temple ofArtemis at Ephesus（以弗所的阿泰密斯神庙）. the tomb ofMausolus at Halicarnassus（哈利卡纳苏斯的摩索拉斯陵墓）.the Colossus ofRhodes（希腊罗得岛巨像）.the Pharos ofAlexandria（法罗斯岛灯塔）。也有把我 国的万里长城称为世界第八奇观的说法。
　　2.“解放”怎么译？口译“解放”时.不一定用liberate或liberation.有时意译的方法表达更清楚. 如“中国人民解放军和平解放了北京”译作The People’S LiberationArmy entered Bering without resistance或took the city without the use of force.可能比peacefully liberated Beijing更明白易懂。同样.对不熟悉中国现代史的外国人来说.”解放以 来”译作since 1 949或since the founding of the People’S Republic of China要比since liberation清楚。
　　3.表示地理位置时用的介词in，to和of在表示地理位置时in.to和of意义不同。如：在In the center ofthe square stands the Monument to the Heroes ofthe People…一句中.1n表示“在……内／中”。 在the square to its south was the scene…和Zhengyangmen to the south of iananmen 两例中.to表示“方向”。“方向”也可以用0f表示.如：Xi’an lies southwest（或to the southwest）of Beijing。
