在任何形式的国际公关活动中,为了收到事半功倍的效果,公关人员必须巧用语言,善用语言。但翻阅国内出版的各种各样的英语口语书,总感到有这样或那样的问题。一是这些书中绝大多数并没有能够反映英语口语的客观实际,或者所谓的“典型句型”并不是人们用得多的,或者很多常用的表达法没能反映出来,我们很多编写者对英语的日常交流用语并不是很了解;二是很多书使用的材料显得过于陈旧,或者作者只是参考了很久以前的出版物,或者很多说法已经过时;三是对不同场合的不同说法没有反映出来,同学之间、师生之间、不熟悉的人之间等往往在用词造句上有很大的差异。所有这些问题如果出现在英语口语书中,往往会使学习者只是学到了英语句子的外形,而不能用到实际交流中去。
