胡文仲，北京外国大学教授，外国文学研究所所长，外国文学研究所所长，博士生导师；中国高校英语口语协会会长；中国跨文化交际研究会会长；中国澳大利亚研究会会长，1990年获悉尼大学名誉文学博士学位。曾在悉尼大学、澳国立图书馆、美国宾州大学、威斯康星大学、英国兰卡斯特大学、日本青山学院大学任客座教授、研究员。曾主持中央电视台英语教学节目《跟我学。
    主要编著、论著有：《大学英语教程》1，2册（合编）《基础英语教学论文集》、《公务员英语》、《英语的教与学》、《跨文化交际与英语学习》、《跨文化交际学选读》、《与中国人交际》（合著）、《文化与交际》、《英美文化辞典》、《澳大利亚短篇小说选》、《澳大利亚研究论文选》（第一卷）、《澳大利亚文学论集》等。
