In June 2022, Chinese President Xi Jinping chaired the High-level Dialogue on Global Development. Issuing a Global Development Report was included in the Chair's Statement and the list of major deliverables. The Center for International Knowledge on Development (CIKD) undertook the task under the guidance of the Development Research Centre of the State Council (DRC).
The report looks at the current development situation and future prospects of countries across the world, especially developing countries. It presents the analysis from CIKD on some of the most important development issues in our world today. It discusses the policy recommendations for working towards a global community of shared development and accelerating the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The Global Development Report 2024, themed "A World of Turbulence and Change: Cooperation to Address Global Common Challenges", provides an in depth analysis of the basic features of the world and the common challenges, and explores the general strategies and main paths for addressing these global challenges through cooperation. It analyzes global common challenges in the areas of climate change, industrial and supply chains, digital transformation, poverty reduction, food security, public health, and financing for development, and puts forward practical measures.
