《中外文学作品精读与鉴赏》利用阅读经典名篇、完成挑战性的任务来提升学生的语言基本功；通过赏析鲁迅、沈复等中国作家的经典篇章，引导学生了解中国博大精深的历史、文化、国情；通过赏析欧·亨利、杰克·伦敦等外国作家的经典作品，引导学生了解他国广博丰富的历史、文化、国情；最后通过中外对比，启发学生领会“人类命运共同体”的概念，引导学生思辨性地理解、认识问题，并用外语表达观点。 《中外文学作品精读与鉴赏》力求将思政元素有机融入课程教学中，从个人、文化、国家、国际等角度增加课程的知识性、人文性，提升时代性、创新性。
