汤一介，当代中国哲学界泰斗级学者，曾任北京大学哲学系教授、博士生导师、中央文史研究馆馆员、中国文化书院院长等职务。2003年起，担任《儒藏》编纂中心主任、首席专家，生前主持完成了精华编100册。汤先生有多部学术专著出版，包括《郭象与魏晋玄学》、《在非有非无之间》、《佛教与中国文化》等，另有学术论文上百篇。

《儒释道耶与中国文化》（汉英对照）收录了汤一介先生有代表性的学术文章10篇，这些文章都曾被译成英文发表在各大中外期刊上。内容涉及儒家、道家、佛教、基督教等各种文化思潮的互动碰撞。面对西方学者提出的“文明冲突论”，先生提出“和而不同”的理念，对中外哲学界产生了深远的影响。
